I sat down with Tim Kissane of Kissane Water Conditioning to talk water.
Today I sat down with another special guest, Tim Kissane of Kissane Water Conditioning. In real estate transactions, we often run into situations with water, and that’s why we have Tim here to discuss a little about that.
Can you tell us a little more about your company?
We treat water for residential and commercial customers. For residential customers, we help with anything that might be wrong with their water: hard water, iron, a bad taste, a bad smell, and even bacteria. There’s a lot that can go wrong with water, and we handle that. Especially when people move into a new home, they can have a lot of issues with their water quality.
Do you help with wells and hard water?
Absolutely, we handle any well-inspection issues and hard water. We have a lot of issues with hard water in our area, not only with wells but sometimes with the municipal supply. A lot of our lakes have some degree of hard water. The calcium, which is the “hardness” in the water, can dry out your skin, especially in the winter.
Are there any problem areas that keep coming up?
There are several; Chittenango typically has extremely hard water with a ton of sulfur. Sometimes people can even smell it driving down Route 13. Elbridge, Weedsport, Pompey, Manlius, and Cazenovia are all problem areas. Just about every well there needs some type of water treatment.
What type of commercial work do you do?
It depends on the specific business, but almost everything we do for commercial customers has to be custom-made. Sometimes it’s simply a water softener. Other times we install high-purity, de-ionizing systems for labs, hospitals, and glass companies. We even clean the water for water testing labs, so they only test what they want to.
How long have you been in business?
Over 40 years. I’ve run into plenty of situations, even ones where customers have had several companies in before us that weren’t able to handle the problem. With my experience, I’ve been able to examine what problems they have and how best to fix them. Those customers are usually surprised that I was able to do it because no one else could. I can help these people because I’ve been doing this so long that I truly know what I’m doing.
I want to thank Tim again for taking the time to talk with me. If you want to connect with him, you can reach him at (315) 437-6111. Of course, if you have any questions about real estate or are looking to get into the market, feel free to give me a call as well. I’d love to help.
